Meaningless, Meaningless, My job is meaningless?

So I was on my phone and went to the Facebook app (so rare). But I was told to look on there, so I did. I received an ad on my timeline about an event at the walker art center that interested me. I checked out the event, which was a Jazz performance. I was immediately intrigued because I’ve always wanted to attend a jazz club/concert/evening. It’s been on my bucket list. I’ve been to one, but it wasn’t the complete environment that I wanted to enjoy the music at its fullest potential, but I still enjoyed it. I have the clip right here.

Anyways, I started to examine the event's details, and I clicked on the primary artist, Ambrose Akinmusire, to review his artistic profile, and I was brought to his website. I wanted to hear some of his music at that moment, so I opened Apple Music. Then I browsed through his music.

By the way, I want to go to a Jazz evening because I thoroughly enjoy listening to jazz music. I was excited to hear his album because I recently found Minneapolis's jazz station (88.5). Listening to something new by someone I could have the opportunity to see in person made it more exciting.

As I was finding another album, I was praying heavily because I’m aware that music is heavily used as a weapon and influenced by the devil, and seeing this artist in person may not be the best for me. I asked Yah if it is His Will, show me a sign that it is ok to go.

I came across the album “The Imagined Savior is Far Easier to Paint.” The album title alone made me curious.

Then I read the album description (is this the right term?) for the album and thought I’d listen from beginning to end because I do know that a lot of artists like to tell stories through their music, and they want people to listen from beginning to end at least the first time.

So I go to the first song on the Album. Then I scroll through the rest of the album.

Now remind you, I just got done asking Yah if this is something He wants me to go to, then please let me know. I like to be in conversation with Yah this way because I don’t want to end up somewhere I do not need to be.

As I scroll down, a song called J.E. Nilmah is the 11th track on the Album, and it shows Ecclesiastes 6:10 in parentheses. I thought, “Hmm, I don’t recall what that verse says.” So I go to look it up in the Bible.

Automatically, I’m geeked because anything that sends me to the Bible to read is good. In this case, it was Holy Spirit telling me, “It’s cool if I go to the performance.”

I read Ecclesiastes Chapter 6.

Ecclesiastes: This is said to be written by King Solomon, though he never announced himself directly; as it is written, it describes him perfectly, which is why it is said to be written by him. He tells his account of all his wrongdoings, life without Yah, and mediocre Wisdom, providing insight on how to enjoy life in each moment as it is ordained by Yah.

Here’s a quick and quality summary of the Book.

I said you know what? I’m going to reread the whole book.

I start from Ecclesiastes 1 and read to 2:22, and I’m praising Yah. Those are words that are reminders of my walk in my purpose that are always good to hear. It’s honestly comparable to someone you care about telling you, “Good job, I’m proud of you!”.

I kept reading to gain more wisdom and reminders. So I went back to the top of Chapter 2 and reread it. I read the whole book, as it is only 12 chapters. Here’s a verse that stood out to me, and it also shows up in Chapter 5 [see below].

ECCLESIASTES 2

A screenshot of the Book in the Bible, Ecclesiastes Chapter 2 Verse 22 through 26

I was just thinking about how I’ve been spending more money than I want on food because I haven’t had much time to cook at home. But when I have that thought, I try to make sure I follow up that I’m grateful I have the money to spend on food and feed my family because I had moments when I was limited because my funds were limited.

Not only that, but I work to spread the message that people should truly enjoy what they do for work, and the best way to do that is to find out your purpose. I often hear about people hating or being tired every day because of their job; hence why I created the Purpose for Impact program and framework.

Yah affirmed to me this is the gift He provides to the Faithful. I feel this every day. I love what I do. I’m grateful for the opportunity Yah gave me to enjoy all my blessings. The simplicities of life, not needing more and being ok with less if it so come. Not worrying about money and certainly not idolizing it.

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭7‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Wisdom is even better when you have money. Both are a benefit as you go through life. Wisdom and money can get you almost anything, but only wisdom can save your life.”

Now I have to find a babysitter for the event! Yah said I can go, so I know He’ll make it work.

It’s displayed again here (side by side)

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭5‬:‭18‬-‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life. And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God. God keeps such people so busy enjoying life that they take no time to brood over the past.”

‭‭Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes)‬ ‭5‬:‭18‬-‭20‬ ‭TS2009‬‬

“See what I have seen: It is good and beautiful for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which Elohim gives him, for it is his portion. Further, when Elohim has given any man riches and wealth, and permitted him to enjoy them, and to receive his portion and rejoice in his labour, this is a gift of Elohim. Though it not be much, let him remember the days of his life, because Elohim bears witness by the gladness of his heart.”

Ashlee
